Watch Me Lose

I have started another blog to track my weight loss goals. I will start the actual diet plan on Sunday March 1, 2009. I have layedout the plan there and there I will be talking about my success and failures! I am really just doing it to hold myself accountable but I hope that maybe I can be encouraging to others! I know it's kind of lame but that is me! I will be recording my weight each week. I will weigh each Sunday night and let you know how it goes!

Wow my life is pretty boring!

Well yesterday started the Lenten season I have decided to give up soft drinks and chocolate as my sacrifice. This is going to be difficult for me because I drink Mtn Dew like water! So we'll see how well I do! I know I can do it, it just isn't going to be easy! (which is kind of the point)

I thought I would share this photo for all those (like myself) who are very ready for warm, springtime weather! I feel like I haven't posted in forever. Probably because I live a pretty boring life so there hasn't been anything really blog worthy. Anyways I decided to share a few things that have been going on!
These were taken at my parents house one Sunday afternoon. Every Sunday Dad cooks lunch and after church we all go over and eat. Its our weekly family get together! Porter is getting so big and he is so sweet! (not such a hot photo of myself but he looked so cute I couldn't resist!)

Harper is growing like a weed. She is also very sweet!Ally after her hair cut! She wore the bows for four days! She thought she was so cute (and she was)!
We went to see Zac Brown Band! Patrick was so excited because it was on a Wednesday night and that is his off day so he actually got to go and do something fun with me and his friends!
Zac Brown Band again! These are just a few things that have been going on. Like I said my life is pretty boring and un eventful! When the most exciting thing you do in a week is go to the Bass Pro Shops because your husband has a gift card burning a whole in is pocket it's pretty sad!

Countdown to Kickoff

200 days till kickoff of Alabama Football! My family lives for college football in the fall. I am so ready! I love the fall. I love the weather and the leaves. I love the holidays (Thanksgiving is my favorite). I love Alabama Football!!! My family has been tailgating for about 5 years now. We have a theme each week and everyone brings something to go along with the theme. We just have a great time. It is funny how much we put into going to a football game. We plan for months before and talk about it for months after! It is my favorite time of year! Just a few pictures from last season!
Ally on the quad!
Me and Elizabeth (my sister) before kickoff of Iron Bowl!

Love is in the air!

I have a love hate relationship with Valentines Day! I love my husband very much but I don't feel like we need a holiday to show our love! However I still expect some acknowlegement of the day simply because we (like most couples) don't make a point everyday to let the other know that we love and appreciate them. I hate Valentines Day because I feel like it is created to pressure us to buy crap that we don't need and are really just doing it to impress people! My husband has to go into work on Saturday night and will not get off until Monday morning so I have planned a "girls day" for Valentines day! My little sister is coming home from school and we are going to start the day off with pedicures, then some shopping, maybe some lunch and finally we will top it off with a girly movie at home in our pjs probably with some chocolate! I am so excited so spend time with my sister. I miss her so much. We shared a room for most of our lives and now that we live in different cities it makes me miss her so much.

I also think that friends are such an interesting concept. I consider myself to have a lot of friends. I think it is neat how some friends I can not talk to for months and it seems like we haven't skipped a beat. I think a friend is someone you have shared a significant point of your life with. And most of them are a friend for life! Significant can be anything you want: first loves, getting your drivers license, graduating from high school then from college, losing a loved one, or gaining a loved one. I have people that I dont' see on a regular basis but if they needed something I would do whatever I could to help them and I hope that they know that!

February Family Fun

This weekend was full of family! My mom's side of the family got together to celebrate the February birthdays (although some birthdays went unnoticed from the month we won't go there). I was also asked by my sister to shoot some head shots for her that she needed for something at school. I love photography. I am not very good at it and I don't have the best equipment. I really want to get better. My problem is I'm not very quick with the shutter. I miss moments (especially when trying to shoot kids) due to my delay. But I'm pretty good with adults! So I wanted to share a few of my favorite shots of her. I think she is so beautiful inside and out and I feel like I captured that!

This weekend was beautiful! The weather was absolutely perfect. I watched my brothers four kids for a couple of hours Saturday afternoon and we played outside for most of the afternoon. It was a blast. We jumped on the trampoline (something I used to do daily as a child but haven't done in years) and just ran around the yard. Even Harper was just excited to be outdoors! We had so much fun. Here are a few photos from the day! Ava walking Ally...all four pounds of her.

Drew riding his razor!
Porter and Patrick riding the tractor!

Ava and Harper enjoying the weather and the camera!

When I Grow Up

Well budget meeting was a success of sorts. By that I mean we put a lot on the table and we both now have a better understanding of where we stand financially. However we also discovered that we spend more than we make. I feel like this is common among most households. We don't over spend by much each month but it is enough that we need to get it under control now.
On another note I wonder how people know exactly what they want to be when they grow up. I say I have always wanted to be a mommy, a stay at home mommy, but I wonder if that is what will truly make me happy? On the other hand I can't think of anything I want to be. I don't particularly like dealing with the public. I thought I wanted to plan events but I don't want to work on the weekends, even though my husband does so it might actually work better. I wish I could think of something very neat and new and start it from the ground up and work from home and be my own boss and all that good stuff. I just don't know what to do with myself. I like the job I have now but I don't see me doing this forever although I don't really want to work at all when I have kids (although I'll probably have too). I just don't feel very satisfied with my accomplishments lately. I feel like I have a degree from The University of Alabama and I'm wasting it. I just don't want a job that I dread going to everyday and right now I don't mind going. There are so many things that I enjoy doing but I don't do any of them well enough to make a career of them. I think i'm just going to try to be content in life right now and enjoy life as i'm living it. Any ideas let me know!

Budget Time

I hate money. I hate that I never seem have enough. I hate that the things I need in life take so much of it. I hate that there are so many people that have way less of it than I do but seem to be able to do more with it. I hate that I manage to spend every dime I get. Sometimes I have it spent before I get it. Tonight at the Horton house we will be having a budget meeting. "They" say that money is the #1 thing couples fight about. For this reason we think it is important for us to have this meeting. We plan to do it every year. It is so easy to lose sight of the important things when it comes to spending money. We are so blessed in so many ways and I hope that we can keep that the center of our discussion. Sometimes we both get frustrated with what the other deems important to spend money on, so hopefully if we can keep all the things that we do have in the front of our minds and our meeting will be quick and painless! I'll let you know how it goes!
