Thanksgiving, Kickball, Girl's Night and the Iron Bowl

I hate lumping the whole weekend in one post but I'm afraid i'll never get it all posted if I don't! :)
We had a crazy busy, exhaustingly fun long weekend.
Barrett spent a little time on the ipad before we got the day started.  He looks so big.
For Thanksgiving lunch we went to my Grandmother's house.  They boys worked on building a new deck.  Porter was prepared with his took box and safety glasses.

This is the only picture I took of Barrett all day.  After lunch we picked up Patrick and went to the Horton's for dinner.  As usual I took zero pictures.

On Friday my big brother planned a family kickball game.  It did not disappoint.  Mom and Dad were team captains.  Mom chose both of my brothers and my sister and my dad chose me.  Dad's team dominated the first game.
I haven't laughed that much in a long time.  It was so much fun!  My little brother set up his GoPro camera and we loved watching the footage.

During the second game I had a couple of memory lapses and made a fool of myself but I survived.

I just love that the whole family played (except my Patrick, he had to work.).  My parents played and ever Barrett toddled around the outfield and kicked the ball a few times.  It was so much fun.  I hope we get to do it again while everyone is around for Christmas.

Friday night Brittany and I hosted a little girls night paint party.  I invited all my "boy mom" friends.  All of our boys are right around the same age.  We painted doorhangers and I thought they turned out so cute.
We had a fun night laughing and painting.

Saturday was the Iron Bowl in Tuscaloosa.  I was so excited.  Jennifer and I planned on watching the game and my cousin's house but I ended up getting a ticket and we found Jennifer one too so we both got to go.  I loved the night games when i was in school.  Now that I have to travel to the games I don't enjoy them as much.  It makes for such a late night.
We ventured to the quad to see what was going on.
Meanwhile back home Patrick was trying to corrupt my son.  I can't get over how big he looks here.
Last week at Lowe's BB bought him this flashlight.  He's been using it as a headlight on this push toy.  He cracks me up.
Ms. Linda picked up this book and I love it.  It is so cute and so sweet

I got to sit with my sister.  The other girl was an Auburn fan we made friends with.  She reminded up so much of our sister-in-law Hope that we had to take her picture.

Then I went to find my other friends.  I'm pretty sure Matt wonders why he's friends with me.  I like to think it's because I'm fun, I think it's because he feels sorry for me.
It was a long night.  I was crawling in the bed as Patrick's alarm clock was going off.  I've never felt as old as I did Sunday.
Monday I finally got the ornaments on the tree and our halls are officially decked!
'Tis the season!

Thanksgiving & the Iron Bowl

We had a wonderful Thanksgiving.  It was Barrett's last "first" holiday.
For lunch Barrett and I headed to my Grandmother's and it was yummy. (Patrick had to work).

We left there and swung by the house to get Patrick and head to his parents house for dinner.  It was delicious also.  There was no room for our plates on the table because there was so much food.  Barrett ate his weight in green beans.
I love this little turkey so much.

The grandkids.  They are all so sweet to Barrett.
We started our Friday with a bundled up walk with Aunt Elizabeth.
Friday afternoon we met for Book Club and went to see Catching Fire.  It was sooo good.  I would have liked it better if I'd reread the book because I was trying to remember parts and it was taking away from the movie for me.  I want to reread the book then see it again.  I know I'm crazy.

Saturday we geared up for the biggest Iron Bowl of our lifetime.  #1 Alabama vs #4 Auburn.  Winner wins the SEC West and is one step closer to the National Championship.  Barrett, Ally and I got dressed in our tide gear and patiently waited for Patrick's mostly Auburn friends to arrive.  I was nervous all day and had a bad feeling.  I didn't want to admit it.  Auburn scored first and it was a little defeating.  Barrett started crying and it was hilarious.  I wanted to cry too.  It was back and forth and we had plenty of chances to win.  The game was tied when we thought the clock ran out.  Well after an official review the runner was out of bounds with 1 second on the clock and unless you've been living under a rock you know how it ended.  But since I want Barrett to read this one day I'll type it out.  We lost.  With 1 second left on the clock we go in with a field goal team.  It would be a 56 yard kick.  Well it was about 2 yards short, Auburn fielded it and ran it 108 yards for the game winning touchdown.  It was heart breaking.  Now Auburn will play for the SEC Championship this weekend.   Roll Tide.

All in all it was a great weekend.  I hated my team lost but it was bound to happen sometime.  At least its still the State of Alabama representing the SEC west.  Now we are in full Christmas mode.  We are enjoying our Advent Activity calendar that I made and our daily scripture readings at night.

It's the most wonderful time of the year!

Iron Bowl Review

What a game! I mean WOW! My sweet, die hard Auburn fan husband fell asleep during the pregame (He had worked a 16 hour night and didn't get home until noon). He woke up into the first quarter and the Tigers had already scored once and were driving for their second score. 14-0, seriously. He looked at the TV and then looked at me in a daze and asked me if he was dreaming. Yeah, more like a nightmare for me! He was so excited but trying not to gloat. I was so mad. I could feel him gloating on the inside. It was an awful feeling. But DO NOT FEAR here came my Tide to score, and then score again, 14 unanswered points. 14-14 AND, WE'RE BACK IN THE GAME! Thank you football angels!!! Now it's half time and I think I'm going to be sick. I really don't like these close games. I feel so helpless. Auburn gets the ball first. They eventually score making it 21-14. Okay boys you know what you've got to do. Two Tiffin field goals later 20-21 okay boys thats great and all but we're still losing. (lLuckily sweet, die hard Auburn husband had gone to bed at halftime and was still sleeping like a baby.) We got the ball back with 8:27 left to play. We need a long drive to eat up the clock and then a TOUCHDOWN. Well 80 yards and 7 minutes later bama came up with 6. Two-point attempt intercepted. Yikes! 26-21 They have 1:24 to score a touchdown. This is where I wake up sweet, diehard Auburn husband. They come up short.
BAMA WINS! HOLY CRAP! WE WON! Champion's find a way to win!

Alabama 26 - Auburn 21

Roll Tide Roll!
12-0

Next week we're heading to Atlanta to play for the SEC Chamionship against the Florida Gators.  It'll be a battle.  We've got to make some serious adjustments but we'll be ready to play!

Our Iron Bowl pregame festivities! We're really exciting people!

Iron Bowl 2009

VS
Today is the day, both the Alabama and Auburn faithful will dress head to toe in team colors. Those lucky enough to get a coveted ticked to the big game will pack their cars and head to the plains.  It's a big day in Alabama.  It doesn't matter that Bama is undefeated and they'll play for the SEC Championship next week.  If they lose today none of that matters.  This is the game coaches lose their job over.  This is the only game that matters.  Last year Bama broke a 6 year losing streak with a shutout.  It was an awesome feeling to be in that stadium.  This year it should be a pretty good game.  The Tigers are going to fight but the tide outweighs and out preforms in almost every position.  As i've said before my husband is a die hard Auburn fan.  He bleeds orange and blue. Last year I went to the game and he stayed home to watch it with friends.  This year we are going to try to watch it together.  I'm not sure how long that will last.  I just hope that Bama plays to it's full potential.

Roll Tide Roll!
Beat Auburn!!!
