Happy Birthday Patrick!!!

Happy 36th Birthday to the head of our house!  We are so thankful you were born!
If he's going to do something, he's going to do it to the best of his ability.  There is no eyeballing anything for him.  When things break he loves figuring out what is broken and how he can fix it.  I'm convinced he can fix anything.   He works so hard at two jobs so we have everything we need and most things we want.  He is my biggest cheerleader and for that I am so thankful.  I love sharing this beautiful life we've built together.  He makes me laugh.  A lot.  In fact, I can never stay mad at him because he always makes me laugh and its so hard to be mad at someone when you're laughing.

I love watching him be a dad.  He loves his babies with every thing he has.  They think he hung the moon.  When they hear the garage door every afternoon they both just squeal with glee.  It is the sweetest part of the day.  AveryAnn says "Daddy" about a thousand times a day.  (One day she'll say Mama)

Barrett wants to be just like him.  He loves going to work like his Daddy.  (even though he has no idea what his Dad really does and that our work is nothing like what his dad does).  I asked him tonight who he loved more me or Daddy and he of course said Daddy.  But then said "don't worry, I still love you too."

Happy Birthday Patrick!  We hope you have the best day ever!  We love you so much!

Father's Day

We had a nice day to celebrate the dads in our lives.
First up was Patrick.  I took zero pictures of the morning opening presents and breakfast.  Patrick doesn't ask for many things but he'd asked for a cross necklace that matches the cross charm he got for me to mark Barrett's baptism.  So Barrett and I got it for him.  I think he was excited.  We also got him the stickygram Instagram magnets, for his locker at work.  He was excited.  I think his favorite gift was the fact that Barrett rolled over from back to belly for the first time.  He did it once at home and then several times at my parents house.
Barrett and I went to church and then to my parents for lunch.  It was just us and John and Hope for lunch.  We watched the race until Barrett started getting fussy.  Dad actually let Barrett watch Mickey Mouse Clubhouse.  When we were little he never let us watch kid shows, ever.
(I told y'all I was obsessed with bubble suits)

Doesn't Ally look thrilled to be included.

I'm not sure what happened but I think it involved me ruining the pictures.

I love this picture of Patrick, his Daddy and Barrett.  They look so happy!

We had a fun day.  Barrett did really great.  I love that he's really a "schedule" baby, he likes to be on a schedule but he can be flexible.  It usually makes for a terrible Monday.  I call it "Monday morning detox"  after he's been held for every nap all weekend long.  So we've had an interesting day.  He went down right at 7:00 I'm hoping he sleeps all night.

Happy Father's Day

Happy 1st Father's Day to the best husband and sweetest daddy around.
Watching you with Barrett has been one of the biggest joys for me.

These are two of my favorite pictures.

We love you!  Thank you for being such a great daddy.

Patrick's 30th Birthday Party

Sunday, August 21st.  I surprised Patrick with a party to celebrate his 30th birthday.  Sunday was his "pure day" and his off day so that's why I chose to do it then.  It was alittle inconvenient for everyone with children and work on Monday morning but I don't think it was to bad!

This is the invitation I designed and had printed at VistaPrint.  They were very affordable and I used the same colors through out the party.
I knew I wanted to use orange and blue because it would go with the gift I was getting him but being the die hard Bama fan all the serving pieces I wanted to use were red, so I just threw it in and I think it all worked our pretty well!
I knew I was going to make the cake because I just couldn't fathom spending $50+ on a cake that was going to be fairly simple to decorate.  I used a recipe for wedding cake that was delicious that I got here.  The 30 is wooden pieces from Hobby Lobby covered in scrapbook paper.  I used the same paper to make the Happy Birthday banner.  I put rock candy around the bottom of the cake so help cover the many imperfections.  I also wanted 30 candles.  I think it made people nervous to have that many candles but I loved it.

The candles could have gone in alittle straighter but oh well.

I made these using small paint cans, spray paint and ribbon.  They turned out so cute.  I will be making more of these I think.
This was the birthday boy when he arrived.  I'd arranged for two of his good friends to take him shooting for the afternoon.  I didn't plan it out very well though.  Guests were still arriving when he got home but I knew he would know something was up when he saw the cars there was just no other way to pull it off.

I seriously pained me to buy this for him.  His 30th birthday also marked his 30th day to be smoke free.  He decided to quit smoking when we came home from the beach and has been gradually cutting back and has now been 34 days without a cigarette.  I'm so proud of him.  I wanted to get him something special to mark both occasions.

I did this table downstairs in the den with some of Patrick's favorite things.  It was sort of a bust cause no one really hung out down there.  But I'm still glad I did it!
This was the wreath on the front door.  I loved the feathers.  They were actually found in the gift wrap section at Hobby Lobby and had clips on them so I just clipped them to the ribbon.

This was one of my favorite things.  I found that frame for $18 at HL and loved going thorough old pictures.  There are pictures from Patrick's childhood and it doesn't even look like the same kid!

I didn't get a shot of the table actually decorated. but I used the cake as the centerpiece on this table.  I loved the tissue poms from the ceiling fan.  I think they really added to the festiveness of the party.  I used the blue jars with flowers on the table downstairs, outside and on the mantle in the living room.

I borrowed the old Pepsi cooler from my parents for the soft drinks.  I loved that it matched the colors and it just looks so neat.

This party was a lot of work.  I couldn't have done it without all the help I had.  My mom was a huge blessing through all of this.  She helped me at Sam's while I was trying to figure out how many buns I needed.  (Math has never been my strong suit!)  She helped me Saturday gathering all the final things and again on Sunday before the party.  My dad saved the day my manning the grill.  Which was not an easy task considering it was easily 157 degrees outside.  Carla and Kimmi were life savers Sunday helping me set everything up as were their husbands who took the birthday boy away for the day.
I think Patrick was really surprised and had a really good time.  I wish I'd taken more pictures of people.  I was so busy I didn't even think about it!

At Home Date Night

The sweet husband decided to surprise me with steaks on the grill tonight!
(He loves having his picture made!)

As you can see, Ally and I were so very excited!

We had steak, mashed potatoes, and green beans.

With, way to bad for me, pie for dessert!

Our grill had been out of gas for months now.  So Patrick got our tank filled and got some steaks.  I love when I get home from work and don't have to worry about what we're going to have for dinner!
Now I'm watching the Bachelor...how about Chantel and Brad staying in a tree house in the middle of nowhere for the fantasy suite?  Not sure how I'd feel about that!

The Most Romantic Valentines Day Ever...

I'm only kidding.  But it was one filled with lots of laughter and it made my heart smile.  We ordered Chinese take out.  We love Chinese food but never order it so we couldn't decide what we wanted so we got one of everything...okay not really but it sure seemed like it.  We exchanged gifts nothing to extravagant but a little something to say we care.  I already showed you what I got Patrick and he got me a gift certificate for a pedicure and manicure.  I am so excited!  I want to use it this week but I also want to wait till I'm wearing flip flops on a daily basis.  (I'm still paranoid that the fabulous weather we're having right now is just a tease).  After dinner I promised Patrick I would but his hair.  He had not cut it since before football season.  It was getting ridiculous to say the least.  I thought I could just trim it up so we wouldn't have to shave it...well that is harder than it looks to do.  So we just shaved it.  We ended the evening watching the Bachelor.  I really like Brad.  I didn't watch his first season so none of that really matters to me.  I haven't read any spoilers but I think he's going to pick Chantel.  I love Emily but I think they're "grooming" her to be the next Bachelorette.
Sweet & Sour shrimp, Mongolian Beef, Sesame Chicken, and Chicken Lo Mien.  I told you we couldn't decide.
Our fortunes.  Mine was the one on top.

Before.  This was after we wet it.  It looked like a lot more hair dry.

Yep...it's ashame he can't grow those luscious locks to cover his whole head!

Half-way.  I think this is when we realized that we were going to need to just go ahead and shave it all.

Finished product.  Not a great shot.  You can't really tell what it looks like but trust me...it's a lot better!

It was a fun night.  Now if I can just make it to the weekend.

Pitiful Babies

Patrick was sick last night.  I think it was just allergies but it was bad.  He called into work.  He has never called in to work and it almost killed him to have to.  But he was that bad.  I have a really hard time having empathy for people when they're sick but refuse to go to the doctor.  He said if he wasn't better today he would go.  He was better today.  He's still congested but felt well enough to go to work.

Aren't they so cute.  Ally wouldn't leave his side all night.  She laid right beside him.  It was the sweetest thing.  I love them both so much!

Happy 29th Birthday Patrick

Today is the hubs' 29th birthday.  Last year in his 20's.  I'm so excited to celebrate his special day today. We are going to hear his buddies band play in the park tonight.  I made mini cupcakes and can't wait for him to open his present.  I love to celebrate birthdays!
Earlier this week I had his gift hidden under the couch.  Ally jumped off the couch and started barking and pawing under it.  I thought she'd lost a toy under there or something. Patrick reached down to try to get whatever it was for her and then he felt his gift.  There was no toy for Ally, she just wanted to show Patrick where his gift was hidden.  I was so mad at her.  But looking back now it was pretty funny!
Last night I went to dinner with Lorie and Kristen.  It was so nice.  I hadn't seen Lorie in months so it was nice to finally get to catch up.

Happy Father's Day!

I love my daddy!  I've always been a daddy's girl and if you ask any of my brothers and sister who my daddy's favorite is they'll tell you it's me hands down, although he'd never admit it!  He always has big expectations for each of us and wants the best for us.  He has worked so hard over the years so we could be involved in anything we wanted.  We always manage to laugh so much when we're together.  That's not to say we don't fight sometimes because we do.  Mostly, we just enjoy every minute we're together!  I can count on Dad to tell me the truth about anything...an outfit, hairstyle, shoes, big purchases.  He'll tell you exactly what he thinks!  But that's one of the things I love about him.  He and I are the most alike (which is probably why I am his favorite!)  We both love people, football, parties, convertibles and a good margarita!
I love this shot of my dad and his grand kids at Porter's birthday.  I love watching them together!

I love this one of my and my daddy before my wedding.  I have another one two of us right before he walked me down the aisle that is priceless.
Happy Father's Day Daddy!  I love you!  Thanks for being an awesome Daddy!

Ally has a pretty awesome daddy too!  She is a huge daddy's girl.
Thank you Patrick for being a great dad to Ally!
I know you will make a great daddy to an actual child one day!

Right now I think will just stick with this sweet baby!

Weekend fun...

Warning... Lots of photos!!!
We had a busy weekend.  Friday night I let my nephew and neice spend the night with me.
We watched a movie and drank hot chocolate.

We played The Sims on Elizabeth's computer and told ghost stories unter the blanket!

We played outside on the swingset

We ate pototoe soup!

Ally and Daddy napped on the couch!

Then Saturday night Patrick and I went a wedding.  It was one of my good friends from high school.  The wedding was beautiful the bride was beautiful.  The only problem was I didn't watch one down of football Saturday night.  We got to the reception and the bartender was told not to turn the TV's on until after they had cut the cake.  By the tiem they turned them on it was halftime in both games.  The men got to watch most of the second half but my and my sister decided to hit the dance floor.
