Season of Thankfulness: Day 10 & Show Us Your Life

Today is show us your pets over at Kelly's Korner.  So I thought I'd just make my sweet dogs what I'm thankful for today!
Our Pets
Mainly our sweet puppy Ally Bama! We love all 3 of our dogs but I'd be lying if I said we didn't spoil Ally just a bit.  We have a yellow lab, Sam, a black lab, Gracie and then a tiny toy poodle Miss Ally Bama.  Patrick had Sam and I had Gracie when we got married and they are like best friends now.  Gracie and I have been through a lot together.  I got her for Christmas my senior year of high school.  She survived being hit by a car when she was about 5 months old.  I was the one who hit her (talk about traumatic!).  She can to college with me my sophomore year ( I lived in a dorm my freshmen year).  Then she and my roommate didn't get along so she went back home.  They stay in the yard during the day and then we bring them in at night.

Ally is my baby.  We I got her after we'd been married about 5 months.  Patrick works nights and I was lonely. I wanted something that would keep me company while he was at work. That is exactly what she does.  She is glued to me all the time.  Patrick wasn't really crazy about the idea of getting an inside dog but I insisted.  He realized I was lonely and we both knew we weren't ready for a baby.  So one day I came home from work and told him I'd found a puppy in the paper and I was going to look at her.  I brought her home that day!  She goes to work with me every day.  She pretty much goes everywhere we go.  I never understood people that got so attached to dogs.  Boy do I get it now.  Even Patrick loves the little thing.  He lets her sleep in the bed with us and she usually ends up with her head on his pillow right between us.  It really is the sweetest thing.

Show US Your Life: Reception and Honeymoon

Our reception was absolutely everything I had dreamed. It was a party! Everyone had a blast. We had a local DJ that does most of the weddings at our church so we knew him well. We had the reception in the fellowship hall of our church. Because it only seats 150 with a dance floor we had a 2 30'x 60' tents brought in and attached to the building. The food was to die for. We had chicken fingers, ham and cheese croissants, spinach and artichoke dip, fruit, veggies, and crab cakes. My husband doesn't like chocolate so for a grooms cake we peach cobbler with ice cream! We used my favorite punch recipe and of course sweet tea!

This is our first dance. We danced to Rod Stewart's "For the First Time" because Patrick has been in my life forever. He and my older brother have been best friends since high school. He was there when I really got my heart broken the first time and I just always saw him as my big brother's best friend. Then it was like one day I just saw him as this awesome man.

Daddy and Daughter. This was so special we danced to Stevie Wonder's "Isn't she Lovely". This is a picture of the tent. My dad hung tulle and white lights down the center and ferns around the sides. It was beautiful. I wish I had a better picture! This is our cake (minus the top). Since we are both very big football fans we ran through a paper "bust through" as we left. IT was perfect. We wanted to do shakers but since I am a University of Alabama fan and he is an Auburn fan we decided that this would be the best alternative!

For our honeymoon we rented a little house off of Englewood Beach in Central Florida. One day we drove to Bush Gardens in Tampa. One day we drove all the way to West Palm Beach to rub elbows with the rich and famous. We didn't stay long...it cost $2 to park for 45 minutes to go to the beach!

Our honeymoon was very relaxing except Patrick got sun burnt on the second day and was pitiful for the rest of the trip! It was the perfect place for us!
I hope you all enjoyed touring my wedding. I wish I had better pictures. But trust me it was beautiful!
Thanks for stopping by! For the rest of the receptions jump over to Kelly's Korner and check them out!

SHOW US YOUR LIFE: WEDDING FLOWERS AND WEDDING PARTY

SHOW US YOUR LIFE Friday! Today over at Kelly's Korner is show your wedding party and wedding flowers! I am so excited because I love, love, loved my flowers! They were exactly what I wanted! Each bridesmaid carried a bouquet of roses that were all one color but each bouquet was a different color. I carried all the colors plus white. This was inspired by the arrangement that my dad send my mom the day I was born! The arrangement was roses that were all different colors. Mom says it was the most beautiful arrangement she'd ever seen ( I don't really remember seeing as I was only a day old!). On my 21st birthday my parents sent me 21 roses that were all different colors. Which got us talking about the day I was born! My dad was telling the story of the flowers from when I was born and my mom chimed in with "He had to get them all different colors because it as Saturday and none of the florists had 12 of one color!" Then my dad, a little taken back by her statement, said "Actually I ordered them that way!" So I knew that I wanted all different color roses for my wedding!
I chose black dresses for the bridesmaids because we have red carpet in the church and all the colors I wanted would have clashed very badly! I don't have any photos of us all together dressed! My sister was my maid of honor. Two of my bridesmaids were my roommates from Alabama. The 4th was my sister-in-law. One of my bridesmaids got married in July of 2008 so we chose a simple black dress for the bridesmaids so that we could wear them again in her wedding. It worked wonderfully. She bought a green sash and had them monogrammed for us to wear in her wedding so the dresses looked a lot different!
I wish I had more photos on my computer from the big day but I don't :(!
I wanted a "timeless" looking wedding. I didn't want to look back in 20 years and be able to tell that we got married in 2008! I think with the black and roses it really gave the whole wedding the "timeless" feel I was going for!

"Show Us Your Life: Wedding Dresses"

This is my first week to participate in "Show Us Your Life" over at Kelly's Korner. I am so excited to show my wedding dress. I got married a little over a year ago, March 28, 2008. It was the wedding of my dreams. I felt like a princess in my dress. I tried on about a hundred dresses and narrowed it down to three. Once I narrowed it down my mom came to pick her favorite. She hated all three I had chosen. So she went searching and found the perfect dress. What is funny is just a couple of months ago I was cleaning out my nightstand from college and I found a picture of the dress that my mom had chosen folded up and dated about 2 years before. I guess it was my dream dress! ( I don't remember choosing the dress out of the catalog!)I don't really have a great picture... These are the ones that were taken with my camera. My photographer shot in digital but I didn't get them on a disc or anything!
