Thursday Weigh In

Weight Loss Challenge

It's Thursday!  Only one more day till the weekend.  I weighed in for the first time in about two weeks.  It has been a crazy two weeks to say the least.  I have learned that I am in fact an emotional eater.  I've know this for a while but these last two weeks have really opened my eyes.  I eat when I'm happy and sad or when I'm stressed or bored.

Day 131
Exactly the same as last post.  I'm not complaining considering we've had Easter, a major natural disaster, Mother's Day and two birthday parties.
I have started using the Myfitnesspal app to help track calories.  It's taking me a while to get adjusted to counting every single calorie but it's really opening my eyes to everything I consume.  Bootcamp is kicking my tail.   I ran a 9:21 mile Tuesday night.  It wasn't my best but I was proud.  It was about a minute quicker than two months ago.  I've dropped my mile time by three minutes since last June.
I can't wait to see everyone's progress!  I've missed yall these last two weeks!

Royal Wedding

When Friday, April 29th rolled around we were all in need of a distraction.  I had set my DVR to record the wedding on two different channels on Monday.  As you all know we had devastating weather roll through on Wednesday, April 27th, which knocked power out across most of central Alabama.  I'd gone to spend the night with my parents Thursday night because I didn't want to be in the dark by myself.  Their power came back on Thursday evening.  Ours didn't come on till 6:00 Friday morning so I missed recording most of the wedding.  Luckily it was replaying on the BBC so we were able to watch it.

I thought Kate looked amazing and Will was cute as ever.  I loved that he looked at her like she was the only one in the world.  You could feel the love he has for her.  I love that the vows they shared were the same vows that Patrick and I exchanged.  They are also the same vows that marry people every day.  It really is amazing to me!

The weather put a damper on my guest list but we didn't let that get us down.  It was my sister, Amy and my friend Caroline.  I failed to get a picture of Caroline!  I made strawberry scones and they turned out delicious.  My sister and I also attempted to make petifores.  They tasted really good but they weren't very attractive!

I framed on of the engagement photos and it looked so good in the frame I thought about leaving it there!  We also had yummy wedding cookies and hummus.  I also had coffee and we used my wedding china!

Elizabeth and Amy!  Aren't they beautiful!

It was such a fun night!  It was nice to take our mind off of things.  It was weird how we all felt some what guilty for trying to get back to normalcy when so many lives were turned upside down.  I wasn't alive when Charles and Diana married.  I vividly remember watching all the footage of Diana's funeral.  It was one of those where were you when moments.  This royal wedding will forever be remembered as our distraction from the events of the week.

Day 119

Blessed.

I've been avoiding this post all day.  I want to record this day in my journal but part of me knows there's no need.  Wednesday, April 27, 2011 is a day I'll never forget like so many Alabamians.
This is what we watched live Wednesday afternoon.  There are no words to describe the feelings.  We watched people's lives be ripped right out from under them.  It was surreal, like watching a movie.  Except we knew people in the path.  My sister and cousin live about 4 blocks from where the storm hit.  Thankfully my cousin had gone to a friends basement and my sister had fled to Birmingham but we hadn't been able to get in touch with her until the storm hit.  We didn't know that she wasn't in Tuscaloosa.  I will never forget the sound of my mom's voice when she called me to tell me that my sister was safe.  (I know this all sounds really dramatic but I don't know how else to describe it.  It was dramatic.)  Our house was untouched.  Luckily it didn't take long to get in touch with everyone.  Then the storm was headed for us in Birmingham.  It hit about 5 miles south in Fultondale.  We are so lucky, blessed.  There were so many other areas and families affected.  These are the areas close to me and my heart.  As of tonight the death toll stands at 238 in the great state of Alabama, 45 in Tuscaloosa, 8 of those confirmed students.
I am so thankful for everyone who has blogged, facebooked, texted, tweeted and prayed for the tornado victims across the south especially Alabama. Thank you from the bottom of my heart and keep it comin' these people are going to need us not just now but for weeks and months.

Good Morning

Nothing like waking up to the Tornado Siren.  Luckily it hasn't been to bad here but this is not the worst of it.  Everyone stay safe today.  I called my sister at 5:15 this morning to wake her up because it was right over Tuscaloosa.  I'm not sure she appreciated it.
 Day 116
Patrick and Ally look really worried don't they.

Easter

We had a very blessed Easter holiday.  We started the day going to Mass as a family.  Patrick couldn't go, he had to work.  I was excited to see what the Easter bunny had left for me at my parents house.  We took some pictures of the kids.  After church I headed home to change clothes and get Patrick and we headed to my Grandmother's house for lunch and egg hunting.
*Warning Picture Overload*
The sweet girls all dressed for church
Porter did not want his picture made.
Harper pretending to sleep.
Snaggle tooth Ava Jane.
Patrick with his babies (minus Drew).
My brother's super sweet family.
The siblings.

The loot the bunny left at my parents.
Ava on a mission to hunt the eggs.
Harper styling in her new sun glasses.
Isn't she the cutest thing.

Harper talked Uncle Shawn into helping her find eggs.
Then Dad had to help her too.
the big kids hunt.  John is just mean.
Daddy blowing bubbles with the babies.
She loves bubbles.
I got the Golden egg.
The start of the final round.  I did not find one single egg. Not One.  I was very disappointed.  Harper was the cutest thing hunting eggs.  She had my dad or uncle carry her basket and every time she found one she looked over to where everyone was sitting and said "I found one!"
It was a great day in my book.  After we left my Grandmother's we went to the Horton's house.  Melissa had a great spread as usual and we all ate till we were sick.

Happy Birthday Porter!

Porter is 4 years old today.  I remember vividly arriving at the hospital right after he was born.  He is such a sweet, caring, thoughtful child.  We love him to pieces.
