5 years later

Today is our 5th wedding anniversary. I can't believe we've been married for five years! We both agree this past year has been the best one yet and it's just keeps getting better!

Barrett and me before we went to dinner! I thought he looked so cute in his bow tie onesie from Aunt Elizabeth!

3 Months

Barrett, you are 3 months old.  I just can't believe it.  You are growing like a weed these days and seems like you do something new every single day.  You are spoiled rotten but I wouldn't have it any other way.

  • You weigh around 13lbs
  • You are around 23 inches tall
  • You're wearing 3 month clothes.  We finally packed all the newborn clothes up. :(
  • You're still wearing a size 2 diaper.

  • You are sleeping so much better this month.  The zantac is definitely helping.  We still swaddle you and you seem to like it a lot.
  • You are sleeping through the night (6-7 hour stretches) You usually go to bed around 8:00-8:30 and wake up anywhere from 3:30-5:30 to eat and then go back down for another 3 hours.  You have slept one 8 hour night and one 9 hour night.  I could get used to that, but I'm not complaining!
  • You smile all the time.  You will smile when we talk to you.  You smile when other people talk to you.
  • You are starting to like bath time more.  You don't exactly love it but you don't scream the whole time anymore.

(You really weren't into having your picture made today.)
  • You went to your first friend birthday party.  Mr. Keegan turned one and you did great at the party.  It was during your normal fussy time but everyone took turns holding you and you loved all the attention.
  • You also were baptized this month.  50 of your closest family and friends were there to celebrate with us and it was so special to your daddy and me.
  • You are starting to notice Ally more and she wants you to play with her so badly.  It wont be long.
  • You hate tummy time.
  • You nurse every 3.5 - 4 hours during the day for 15-20 minutes.  You take 4-5 ounces in a bottle usually once a day.

  • I'm still rocking you to sleep at night.  I know I shouldn't be.  I tried letting you cry it out and you cried for an hour without letting up.  I just can't do that again, not yet at least.
  • Your hair is starting to lighten up and thin out some.
  • You've gone to church every Sunday and we're looking forward to taking you to Easter Sunday Mass.  We've had to go to the cry room the last few weeks so I could get you to sleep.

You look like your Daddy in this picture.

I know you're mine but you are the cutest baby I've ever seen.  You get more adorable everyday.  We love you to the moon and back.  I'm not sure you'll ever know just how much we love you.
Happy 3 month birthday!
I love you!

Weekend Review

We had a great weekend!  We are loving the longer days!  Friday night we went to dinner with Lorie and Kristen for Kristen's birthday.  Barrett wasn't exactly thrilled with the idea.  He was kinda fussy the whole time.  We took turns bouncing and patting him.  He's been weird about taking a bottle in the last week.  He's pretty much refused it unless he was starving and even then he'd only take an ounce or two.  So I decided to try a different bottle.  He likes it so far.  He'd still prefer to just nurse but I need to give him a bottle sometimes.  After Target we went back to Lorie's house so Elise would have all her toys to play with.  I fed Barrett but he still wasn't really wanting to go to sleep.  Elise wanted to hold him and it was the sweetest, cutest thing ever!  I finally rocked him and he went to sleep!

Lorie told her to say hey so she waved at him.

Saturday we slept late ish.  Barrett slept until 7:30.  I was afraid he wasn't going to sleep good since his routine was messed up a bit but he feel asleep at Lorie's around 10:00.  I brought him home and put him in his bed around 11:30 and he slept around 8 hours so I'm not complaining.
I sat him in the floor while I was eating breakfast and caught Ally "playing" with him.  She kept bringing toys over to him and letting him kick her to scratch her belly.  After lunch, Uncle John and Aunt Hope came to visit for a little while.  We sat out on the deck and enjoyed the beautiful weather!

Sunday, for Barrett's first St. Patrick's day, we dressed in green and headed to church.  I thought Barrett looked particularly handsome!
I mean isn't he precious!

Practicing his Heisman pose. That dimple owns me.

We had to visit the cry room for the first time.  He was so tired but I couldn't rock him hard enough to get him to sleep so I went to the cry room to bounce him and he finally fell asleep!  After church we had lunch with Uncle John since Nana and Granddaddy were at the beach!

Today we went to work.  I dressed Barrett in blue jeans for the first time.  They are still a little big but so stinking cute!

He was not into having his picture made this afternoon!

I love baby feet!

It was a great weekend.  Today Patrick started day shift so we are loving him being home in the afternoons.  We are also loving the weather here lately.  It has been beautiful!

Barrett's Baptism

I feel so overwhelmingly blessed by the support of our friends and family on such a special day for our little family.  I'll come back and update when I find the words.
{5 months later I'm finally back to update with words}

Patrick and I had such a hard time choosing Godparents for Barrett.  We really wanted to choose people that would love our son and encourage him every step of his life.  We wanted people that would be there for all his big moments in life, not because they had to but because they wanted to be there.  We wanted someone that if anything ever happened to us they would step in scoop him up and raise him just as we would.  Yes, we had pretty high standards.  We finally decided on my brother John and his finance Hope.
We are so blessed.  There were about 50 people that joined us on this special day.  Barrett is one loved baby.

He did pretty good.  He cried and cried leading up to everything.  I can't remember for sure but I don't think he cried when Father Deering actually poured the water on him.

I thought this was a cute picture of John and Hope's shoes.

Barrett and Father Deering.  He also married us.

My sweet family.

Sweet baby.

Us with my brother, Hope, Elizabeth and Clay.  I was so thankful that they were able to make the trip from Atlanta.  It really meant a lot to me.

Us with our parents.  (This seems like so long ago.)

I love this picture!
My sweet cousins loving on my baby.  I loved growing up with these boys and there is nothing sweeter than seeing people you love love your child.

Ava is Patrick and my Goddaughter.  Our Goddaughter and our son napping.

I loved having my family over to celebrate with lunch at our home.  I loved watching the kids run and play in my back yard.  I loved sharing Barrett's nursery and all the little details we worked on to make it his and special.  I don't think I'll ever be able to express how blessed and loved we felt by the people that spent this day with us.  It was so special.
