Halloween Eve

On this the eve of Halloween I thought I do a quick post of Halloween last year. Last year was the first Halloween that I spent at our house. The people we bought the house from warned us that Halloween was a big deal in our neighborhood. Well that was an understatment. There were kids everywhere. There four-wheelers pulling trailers covered in hay and children. I'd bought four bags of candy thinking that was a lot. Boy was I wrong. My parents brought me some candy and then we started taking candy out of my niece and nephews buckets, then I had to resort to giving the kids peppermints. I was shocked by the number of kids. It was so much fun and I'm looking forward to it this year.

Sweet Sunday Afternoon

Sunday, after church, my niece Ava came over to watch the Hannah Montana Movie with me and it was so nice to hang out with her. We rarely get to hang out just the two of us. Now don't get me wrong I love all of them but it's nice to to be just us. Patrick was home but he was asleep! We made a huge pallet on the floor and watched Hannah on the big TV. Ava, Ally and I snuggled up under the covers to watch. It was so much fun! (The movie wasn't so bad!) After the movie Ava wanted to play on our swing set so we all went outside. Patrick entertained the big dogs so she could play without them bothering her. I grabbed my camera and she started posing. It was so much fun! I was even more thrilled when I looked a the photos. So I thought I'd share a few!
Ally was mad she wasn't getting all the attention. There is nothing like the joy of running to the swings! This is my favorite! ( You can kind of see where the girl cut her hair at school!)
We had such a ball. I kept telling her to let me know when she wanted to go home. Finally at 6:30 I had to break it to her that she was going to have to go home. We watched America's Funniest Home Videos and then called it a day. Thanks for coming Ava! I had a blast!

Good Ole Rocky Top...Woo!

VS

Today is the big day. The "Third Saturday in October" (which is actually the fourth this year but who's really counting!) Lane Kiffin has been talking us a storm this week but much to my surprise it has mostly been good. I do however see right threw him. He is only talking like that so that when we roll all over his team he can say how good we were and how his team was so good to hang in there with us blah blah blah!!! I'm just ready for the game. The volunteers aren't very good this year. I could probably beat their QB in a throwing contest. I'm just hoping we can hang in there and win this last one before our off week. It showed last week that we could use some down time. We're having soups and stews at the tailgate. I made broccoli and cheese soup with homemade beer bread. It is wonderful if I do say so myself!

I'm not sure why this didn't post when I scheduled it to. So I'll just go ahead and add my review of the game here too!
Let me start by saying Oh My Goodness! I think I may still be experiencing chest pains. I cannot explain the thoughts running through my head. I didn't even watch the last play. My cousin had to tell me what happened. Thank you Mt. Cody!!! This is why going to the game is so different for me. If I'd been watching the game at home the sweet announcer people would have been there to remind me that Cody had already blocked one kick and the kicker missed one. These two things would have given me the strength to watch. But in the stadium I forgot about all that and I was flashing back to 2003 when we lost in 5 overtimes and I had to hear Rocky Top being played in our stadium. I knew I did not want to hear that. So I prayed (I know that is awful to say. I later apologized for praying to win a football game!) and covered my eyes. I heard the crowd cheer and looked up to see the team running on the field. I couldn't have been more excited! Then to hear Rammer Jammer, there is nothing like singing Rammer Jammer to an SEC team that you just beat in the last 4 seconds. It'll bring a tear to your eye!!!
Alabama 12- Tennessee 10
Roll Tide Roll!!!
Now as awesome as the win was. I have never been more excited to see an off week. I think the fans need it as much as the team after that game! So I'll enjoy my Halloween watching all the other SEC teams. I hope that Bama spends it search for the passing game we were rocking at the start of the season! On to the photos!

I'm pretty sure that he would have been carried off the field if he didn't weigh 300+ lbs!The scoreboard. (Since we're renovating the other scoreboard was taken off the screen to show the replay. This is the best I could do!)Bullet, Papa and FrankMy awesome Creamy Broccoli and Cheese Soup! Which I got the recipe HERE. IT was so good and easy to make! Everyone loved it!

I can't believe this is my 100th post. I actually thought I would write a few things and then forget all about this thing. I have really enjoyed writing and recording all the goings on over the past 10 months!

Homecoming Tailgate Review!

Finally, I know you've all been anxiously awaiting the Vict'ry Chicken Tailgate review. Well let me start by saying I'm terrible at taking photos of food ( and people at tailgates apparently). But believe me when I tell you that we had every kind of chicken you could think of. We had chicken fingers, hot wings, mild wings, boneless wings, fried chicken, and baked chicken. We had chicken salad and chicken dip. There was chicken everywhere! It was so good. My favorite was the mild wings. They were from publix and they were so good. I got to go to the parade for the first time since my freshmen year when I was in it. It was fun. I love just walking around campus seeing all the people. Here are a few photos from the day.

Football, Family, Friends, and Food!

The weekend was wonderful for the most part. I was cold but I loved it. Bama won. Auburn lost. Champ (my sister's dog) was found. I got to go to the game. The sun finally came back out. Just to name a few things that made the weekend great!

My father-in-law in currently in the hospital. They found a blood clot in his lung Friday when he went in for a routine physical. He is so lucky that they caught it. We are so thankful. He is doing well but can use all the prayers he can get. Thanks!

My sister's dog went missing on Thursday and while we were walking on the quad Saturday and friend looked down and saw a picture of Champ on a flyer. A girl had found him but by the time we called he had gotten out of her fence. Sister and I searched a two block radius looking for him with no luck. She had created a group on facebook with his picture and updated on where he'd last been seen and wouldn't you know that someone saw him right where we were looking. Sister was so excited! We all were!

I didn't think I was going to get to go to the game but I ended up getting to sit right with my daddy and couldn't have been more excited. It was a long game. Glad we won! ( I'll have my tailgate review up shortly)

Didn't seen any of the Auburn game but I'm glad they lost!

And the Sunshine, oh how we have missed you! I just wanted to lay in my front yard and soak up as much as I could. You're supposed to stick around for a few days and I sure hope that you do!

Homecoming at the Capstone

VS

This week is homecoming at Alabama. When I think of this week I am quickly reminded of my freshmen year when I pledged a sorority and we had to pomp all week long. It was the most awful experience of my life. Okay that might be a bit much but it wasn't fun at all. I think it rains the entire week every year and that year was no different. I, being a pledge, had to log like 20 hours pomping. We were partnered with a fraternity but they didn't help much. It was just another excuse to hang out and drink. Our lawn looked awesome we had this huge elephant that had to be put up using a crane truck! (I ended up dropping out of the sorority, it just wasn't the social scene I wanted to be a part of!)

Usually the school schedules an easy victory for the HC game. We on the other hand are playing South Carolina. This is an SEC game and the Gamecocks aren't doing to bad this year. The theme this week is Vict'ry Chicken. I am making Buffalo Chicken Dip. We'll have chicken wings, chicken fingers, chicken salad, and bar-b-que chicken. It's sure to be a good time.

Geocaching

My sister introduced this Geocaching to me this week. We haven't actually gone out and tried to find the caches, but we want to. It is basically a worldwide scavenger hunt. You find the GPS coordinates on the website and you look for the caches. It sounds so neat. It's been around for a while but I've never heard of it.

Has anyone heard of it? Have you tried it?

(This is not the best post this week, just something I am hoping to get some feedback on!)

Did you hear the news....

Mr. Pilot Jake!!!

Who's excited??? I am! I just hope he isn't so weird. Word of advice Jake quit calling yourself perfect. Girls really don't want to hear that your other relationships haven't worked out because they thought you were too perfect!

Monday Already...

VS

This weekend flew by. I just realized I haven't posted about football all weekend. That doesn't mean it wasn't being played or that I wasn't watching, because I was.

My Crimson Tide were on the road again this weekend. They headed to Oxford to take on the Ole Miss Rebels. At the start of the season this game was set to be a deciding game for the SEC west. Well it lost a lot of its luster after the Rebels lost to South Carolina. It was still supposed to be a pretty good game. Well the Tide came out with their game faces on. It was a defensive battle for most of the game. The rebels defense only allowed one touchdown. The other 15 points came on 5 kicks by Leigh Tiffin. A win is a win. I'm not complaining.

Now I had to watch the game at a wedding reception. I know it's not very classy but that's what happens when you get married on a gameday in Alabama. The bride and groom were both Auburn Alumni so they really didn't care what we Tiders thought. Luckily they had a nice 50+ inch TV set up. They were several of us that kept our seats right by the TV the entire time.

Kentucky

We had a wonderful weekend road trip! Friday afternoon we met at my parents house for the trip. Bullet was already there when I arrived and we quickly started putting our things in the car waiting on the girls from t-town. Bullet had prepared an itinerary and our scheduled departure time was 4:05. The girls arrived and immediately started to paint the windows of the car with window chalk. This was not on the itinerary. We finally got loaded and hit the road.
Our first major set back...we got on the interstate and it was at a complete stand still. We weighed our options and decided to back up the on ramp and go down the highway. Glad we did because we talked to people that were stuck in it and they said it took forever. We made it to Nashville (well Hendersonville for the Battle of the Bishops Cup) around 7:15 to watch Coley cheer. It was cold. I knew it was going to be cooler but I didn't intend for it to be as cold as it was! Father Ryan won. It was a fun time. I miss high school football so it's nice to go every now and then. We headed back to Chris and Karen's house to settle in for the night. The 5:00am wake up call was going to come very early.
According to the itinerary we were meeting our caravan at 6:15am so we needed to leave the house at 6. We made it. We met an old friend of Bullet and Chris, they went to High School and College together and she goes to all the bama games. She was gracious enough to allow all five of us to pile into her Honda Pilot for the three hour tour to Lexington. We had a great trip. I laughed till I hurt at some of the stories they told us about college and growing up. Bullet and Chris rehashed every Bama game they had ever watched. It was funny to listen to the talk. Even though they are my cousins they are alot older and my parents used to go to Tuscaloosa and party with them when they were in school. It is always fun to hear stories about my parents when they were young.
We finally made it to Lexington (about 20 minutes ahead of schedule) Commonwealth Stadium wasn't in the center of campus like Bryant Denny is. People actually drove right up to the stadium and parked in the parking lot to tailgate. We had awesome seats on the second row. We are told we were on TV several times. It was such a fun game. Bama didn't bring a band which makes it difficult to sing Rammer Jammer at the end! But we did the best we could. We left the stadium, met our group, took our post game victory photo, and then headed back to the car.
There is nothing worse than the feeling that you are about the be car sick and you aren't in your car. I felt so bad but the driver pulled off and let me puke on the side of the road. I was so embarrassed. We stopped I got a Pepsi and we were back on the road. I felt much better. We made it back to Nashville in great time. We were a few minutes behind according to the schedule but we had not scheduled a stop for me to hurl. We went to a little sports bar to watch the Auburn game. Then headed back to house.
We had such a wonderful weekend. I love the road games. I think we are going to try to go with Bullet to Columbia, SC next year. Bullet has been to all of the SEC stadiums (Kentucky was the last one he needed.) Now he wants to see Bama win at all of them. I think there is only one or two that he hasn't seen them win at!

Kentucky or bust

Over the past few weeks you might have confused my blog with that of a football blog. That's all that's been going on in my life lately. Well this weekend is no different. Tomorrow afternoon my sister, her friend Amy, my cousin Bullet and I will be heading to Nashville to watch my cousin cheer at her high school football game. Then Saturday we will rise bright and early and make the three hour drive to Lexington, Kentucky to watch the Crimson Tide take on the Kentucky Wildcats in another week of SEC play. I haven't been to many away games so I'm pretty excited to get to go.

Also my sweet friend Caroline had baby Jasper today. Don't really know a lot of details but he was delivered via c-section this afternoon. Both Mommy and Baby are doing well. Congratulations to the Adams'!!!
