Gloomy Day

Ally's face says it all.  We are sick of the rain and gloomy weather.  It's supposed to stick around all week. Boo!  The weekend was such a tease (we are thankful that we had it though).

I'm lazy and didn't get any shots today so I'm using another one from yesterday.
It was so pretty out!

Wednesday Weigh-In

I need help back on the wagon.
Day 26

I fell pray to all that is the holiday season.  I think I gained a total of 8 pounds, yikes!  Here I am today.  4.5lbs heavier than my previous goal weight!  It won't take long to drop those 4.5lbs if I start paying more attention to what I'm eating and add a day of exercise.  I'm training for a 5K next month and by training I mean thinking about what I should do to start training.  I do have a new goal weight of 130lbs.  I really want to tone more (I've already come a long way doing bootcamp).  I was so pleased with 135lbs but could still see where I could lose some more belly fat (which is the most dangerous).
Anyway since I fell out of  the +/-2lb wiggle room.  I'm back with Wednesday Weigh-In.  I'll keep it up until I reach my goal weight.

Day 22

Double Feature Friday

Last night Kristen, Brittany and I went to the dollar movie.  Since we're really trying to cut back and save money we've started going to the dollar movies a lot.  I actually don't really like to go to the movies.  (I'm starting to enjoy it more and more since it isn't costing my an arm and a leg)  While we were waiting for the first movie to start we decided to make it a double feature ( I mean it's only a dollar folks!)

First up was The Social Network.  It was really good.  We especially enjoyed it because we lived the whole facebook thing from pretty early in the game.  We decided it was fall 2004 when The University of Alabama was launched on facebook.  I remember sitting at my desk in my bedroom and my roommate, Kristen, coming in and saying there was this new website that they were talking about at her work and we needed to join.  So we did.  I remember at first you could put your class schedule on there and connect with other people in your class.  That was actually really useful.  If you missed class you could "facebook" people in your class for notes and such without actually being friends with them!  I remember loving the fact that it was exclusive.  You had to have a ua.edu email to join.  I remember when it went from thefacebook.com to just facebook.com.  I remember when the "status update" was first introduced.  I remember when you could first start putting pictures other than your profile picture.  As you can see I've been a huge fan for a while which is why I really enjoyed this movie!
Next up, Due Date!  It was hilarious!  I honestly don't know how Zack Galifianakis acts without cracking up.  He is so funny yet so serious.   I loved him in The Hangover and I loved him in this.  I'm glad we saved it for the late movie because I would have never been able to stay awake through the other movie that late!
Now I had some help staying awake thanks to my friend Brittany and her innate ability to sneak snacks into the movie theater.
Exhibit A:

Yes you see correctly, That is a box of Krispy Kreme doughnuts.  I'm not sure how she smuggled that in.  I laughed so hard when she pulled those out and was so excited...they were still hot!

Between movies photo shoot.

It was such a fun night but I was beat by the time I got home.  My favorite part was knowing that we all 3 saw two movies for less than 1 ticket to a regular theater.

Maternity Photos

Last Sunday I shot some precious maternity photos with a friend of mine.  She and her husband are expecting their first child and are beyond excited!  I'd never shot maternity photos before and she was willing to be my guinea pig.  I think we got some great shots and I wanted to share a few of my favorites!

Is it Friday yet?

What's for Dinner

The hubs cooked up some deer meat tonight.  It was pretty yummy! Best of all I didn't have to do a thing!
Day 17

Happy Birthday Chloe

Yesterday, Ally was invited to Chloe's house to celebrate her 1st birthday!  It was so much fun!  Amy did a great job and even provided a wonderful dinner (for the people) of chicken casserole, green beans, corn and rolls.  The dogs were hilarious.  They acted just like a bunch of kids.  They drug every toy out of Chloe's toy box and barely let her open her own presents.  It was so funny to watch.  I have to say I am alittle embarrassed because Ally was "that kid" at the party.  You know the one that only wants the toys the other kids are playing with and will whine and bully to get it.  Yep, she was "that kid dog"!

With her giant bone from Molly.

Ally really wanted the giant bone but she just couldn't do anything with it.

Ally loves a party hat.

The birthday girl with her mommy!

Thanks Amy and Sean for inviting me and Ally.  We had a blast!

{Disclaimer:  We all totally know that we are nuts. I would say that we do this for each dog as a joke but we don't we really do love our dogs that much.  We all pretty firmly believe all the dogs are friends from "daycare".}

Sunday, January 16, 2011

Last night I got together with Patrick's aunts and cousins to celebrate my SIL Allison's birthday.  We had a blast.  Vikki made a huge pot of chili and potato soup with all the fix ins.  It was wonderful!  I enjoy getting together with these women so much.  I always manage to laugh a lot.  Aunt Melanie brought these beautiful cupcakes from Gigi's in Madison.  They were to die for.  Absolutely wonderful!

Allison with her birthday cupcake.  She chose the wedding cake one.
I was supposed to go watch Miss America with my daddy.  But I never made it over there.  I really didn't even watch the pageant.
Today I went to church then to my parents for lunch.  My sister was home from school and my baby brother was home from Muscle Shoals for the weekend so we had a nice lunch together.  (MY older brother had to work so he didn't get to make it)  After lunch we all played wii.  I love wii.
Porter with Bentley.  They are both so cute!  (Bentley is my brother's girlfriend's dog!)

After lunch I went to do a little Maternity shoot with a friend of mine who is 32 weeks pregnant and looks fabulous!

A little sneak peak from the shoot today.  I love this shot!  It might be one of my favorites shots ever!

That was our weekend in a nutshell!  We were supposed to go grocery shopping but we never made it.  Maybe tomorrow.

Day 15

Date Night

What does...
equal?

Date Night

Last night Patrick and I got to go on a little date.  I know that you're thinking Hooters...really on a date.  Yes, really!  Have you had their Chocolate Cake.  I'm convinced that's what brings the women in there.  and I love their wings.  I know it's cliche but the food really is good!   We had a great time.

First we went to the movie.  I'd heard Little Fockers wasn't very good but we thought we'd give it a try anyway.  Bad idea.  It wasn't very good at all.  Like I wouldn't recommend paying $1 to see it.  We enjoyed just getting to go see a movie together.  I know we're lame.  I was just so excited to have Patrick home on a Friday night.  (now I'm not going to lie...I {kind of} enjoy having him gone on the weeknights when I get to run to remote all by myself).  After the movie we went to Hooters.   We had both been wanting Hooters all week.  This was the first time we'd ever been just the two of us.  Patrick was so excited that ESPN was replaying the Championship game while we were there.  I told him that if he'd ever just sat and watched a football game on TV {one that he'd already seen no doubt} while we were on a date before we got married...he'd still be dating.  (I guess that was kind of harsh but it was true)!  We laughed a lot about how different we both acted while dating compared to married life.  I guess it's good we can laugh about it!  In another 3 years we'll probably be laughing at how we acted last night.  I love that we still enjoy simple things together.
Tonight we have a hot date planned.  Planning a menu for the rest of the month, making a grocery list and heading out to the store. Pretty exciting, huh!  I know you're all so jealous! :)

2011 BootCamp Round 1

Boring Post just for my records- 2011 BootCamp Round 1 started this week.  I was a little rusty to say the least!  It felt so good to get moving again!
Here are the stats...
  • Push-Ups:     30
  • Full Range Sit-Ups:     42
  • Crunches:     60
  • Shuttle Run:     10.2
  • One Mile Run:    10:08
  • Beep Test:     64
I decided not to put the +/- this time since it is a new year I decided to start with fresh stats!  (And because me numbers were much lower this time. Not sure if it was the two weeks off or all the bad-for-me food I consumed!)

Not a care in the World

I love this shot.  I love the line of the guard rail and Patrick just barely in the shot but enough to see how much fun he's having.

Snow Day

I remember snow days as a kid...today was not much different!  Beside that fact that I was the one at WalMart getting bread and milk instead of my mom (for the record we did use the bread to make grilled cheese sandwiches for our chili but I think we would have survived without them).  My big brother woke me with an early morning phone call instead of a snow ball (which was a lot drier and more pleasant).  They'd seen a deer in their yard, he was so excited! I think he was more excited than the kids!  I made cinnamon rolls for breakfast then we got bundled up and headed out!

We let Sam and Gracie out first and they were so excited!  Sam loved for us to make snowballs and throw them for him.  He caught most of them in his mouth!

We got the four-wheeler out and started surveying the neighborhood! It was indeed a winter wonderland! The roads were slick and slushy!  We road down to turkey creek to see how bad the bridge was.  It was pretty slick.  I hiked down to the water with my camera in tow while Patrick acted like a little kid riding doing doughnuts on the bridge!  I was in heaven, so was he!  We went back to the house to start the chili for lunch!  I loved watching all the neighbors play and build snowmen!  This is when Patrick realized that ESPN was already counting down to the big game tonight.  So he was pretty much done with the snow for today!  I did manage to get him out again for an afternoon ride!

After that we came in, ate lunch, built a fire and took naps!

Winter Wonderland

Yes, this indeed is considered a winter wonderland in the great state of Alabama!  About 1/4" ice, covered with approximately 1" of snow, then topped off with another 1/4ish" of ice.

Day 9

Let it Snow, Let it Snow, Let it Snow!

I have been like a little kid all day!  We are supposed to get 3-6" or  4-8" (depending on who you ask) of snow overnight tomorrow. I'm so excited!  Usually when they predict it like this it never happens...but they seem so confident that it's hard not to get your hopes up!  Patrick is on vacation this week so he will be home! Yay!  They are also predicting up to 1/4" of ice.  This is what we are worried about..you see there is kind of a big game coming on Monday night that the hubs is very concerned about watching.  You see if we get that ice there is a good chance for widespread power outages.  Patrick has already said he would sit in the truck to listen to the game on the radio!  We have a list of movies to watch while we're snowed in.  a few of the titles include Beauty and the Beast (thanks to my sis for letting me have the bluray copy), The Curious Case of Benjamin Button (again thanks to my sis for letting me borrow), and Steel Magnolias

I (finally) took down all our Christmas decorations today.  It was bittersweet to me!  Well, mostly just bitter!  It took all.day!  I finally got it all put away!  Now I need to clean, clean, clean.  Not tonight though!  Tonight I rest!  I'm watching Change of Plans on FOX with Brooke White from American Idol.  I love her!

Horton House 365: Day 8

Something's missing....

Christmas is officially over at the Horton House.
