Season of Thankfulness: Day 6

Our Jobs

We are so thankful to both have jobs.  Every Monday I hate getting out of bed but I think about those who would give anything to have a job to go to on a dreaded Monday morning.  My husband has a good job.  He is an electrician for The Birmingham News.  We are most thankful for his job.  He works so hard.  He was working in residential construction before we got married and he started with the news so he would have better benefits.  We are so thankful he changed when he did.  The construction business is non-existent in these parts.  They might get one or two days of work a week.  I have the best job for me.  It's close to home.  The best part is that I get to bring this sweet angel with me everyday!

Season of Thankfulness: Day 5

Faith

I am so thankful for the freedom of religion.  I am thankful that I can choose to believe without persecution.  I am thankful that today and any other day that I choose I can worship with my family and not fear for my life.  There are so many people in the world without this luxury.  I am thankful that this is something that my mom instilled in us.  I can't imagine growing up in a family without faith.  How do people get through life without faith of some kind? 

Gameday: Bama @ Mississippi State

VS

This week the Tide travels west on 82 to take on the bulldogs in Starkville.  We've clinched the SEC west but still need to win out to keep the National Championship dream alive.  Mississippi State is 4-5.  They narrowly missed beating #1 Florida and #9 LSU.  They are a great team.  They have won 2 of the last 3 meetings.  I feel confident we will come out with the "W".  I am hoping to get to watch some of the game.  I have a wedding to attend.   So we will see.

Season of Thankfulness: Day 4

Football

It may seem a bit silly to be thankful for a sport.  I love football.  I love the fact that my entire family will gather to watch football whenever we can.  I love that growing up fall weekends didn't happen without football.  My parents at one time went to at least 3 football games a week.  For as long as I remember we went to at least one game every weekend.  My older brother played little league football, then he played high school.  I cheered for his little league team then I continued to cheer when he played in high school.  Then I cheered from eighth grade through high school.  My sister did the same.  Then my baby brother played from junior high on.  When I went to Alabama my family started coming down for the games.  It's not just a game it's a tradition with us.  So not only am I thankful for the game but for the memories.

It also doesn't hurt that my team is doing well.  The whole time I was in school we weren't that good.  Each year we would proclaim that "this is our year" only to find out that it wasn't!  The season after I graduate we go to the SEC Championship game.  And we'll be there again in a few weeks.

 I wish I had some photos from when we played/cheered little league, junior high, and for me and my big brother highschool.  I'll have to see if I can dig some out and scan them.  They are pretty hilarious!

Season of Thankfulness: Day 3

Sunshine

Today I am so thankful for the BEAUTIFUL weather we've been having here.   It has been so nice to see the sunshine for three days now.  Cool in the mornings and Warm and breezy by afternoon.  Plus the sun has been shining bright all day long!  It's the kind of weather that makes you want to lay in the sun with a good book and just soak it all up.  The only thing predictable about the weather in Alabama is that it is unpredictable.  Last week was the first frost and this week we've been battleing Hurricane Ida.  You just never know.

Family

I am so thankful for my family!

I have been blessed with the most wonderful, supportive, fun family any girl could ask for. I love spending time with them anyway that I can.

Poor. Forgotten. Thanksgiving

Thanksgiving is my favorite holiday.  It's the "no pressure" holiday.  All you have to do is show up and eat until you can't breath.  Then take a nap and eat again. Oh and tell everyone what you're thankful for!!!  I am often aggravaited by the commericalization of the Christmas holiday and how we are already hearing Christmas music, and seeing the trees.  I feel like Thanksgiving is completely overlooked and each year Christmas keeps getting earlier and earlier. 
On another note, I've seen on some other blogs people listing everyday what they're thankful for.  I've decided to take these last 15 days until Thanksgiving to list what I'm thankful for.

Season of Thankfullness: Day 1

Armed Forces

Since today is Veterans Day I thought it was very appropriate to start the Season of Thanks with the military.  I'm so thankful for all the men and women that risk their lives everyday to fight for our country.  I am also thankful to those who have served in the past.  I challenge you to thank a veteran today and let them know that you appreciate what they scarificed so that we live in free country.  Without them many of the other things on my "Thankful For" list would not be possible.

Friday I spent the night with my sister.  We didn't do anything really exciting but we had a blast.  We started out with dinner at Mugshots.  Let me tell you, if you've never had a burger there, You need to! They are the best burgers I've ever had.

Then we stopped by the ABC store to get some essentials for the game.  This was the first time we'd gone together.  We were excited so we had to document it with a photo.

Finally, we went to Yogurt Mountian.  I'd heard about it on Rick and Bubba and couldn't wait to go.  The one in Tuscaloosa opened at 6:00pm on Friday so we had to give it a try.  I got Strawberry Cheescake yogurt with Teddy Grahams.  It was very good. 

It was a great start to a great weekend.  Thanks sister for letting me and Ally spend the night!

We're Rolling to Atlanta...

Alabama clinched the SEC West with the win over LSU Saturday.  For the second year in a row we'll go head to head with the Florida Gators for the SEC Championship and chance to play in the National Championship game.   It was a beautiful day in T-town.  There were RV's and people everywhere. I love the atmosphere before games like that.  I don't think I've ever been around so many LSU fans that have been as nice as the ones I ran into Saturday.  They were all so nice.  Nothing like I'd delt with in the past.  I'm still just so excited that we won!!!

Good Morning from T-Town

Just wanted to say Good Morning! I've just realized how old I've become.  Last night we were driving around campus and down the strip and I kept talking about how dead everything was and my sister reminded me that it was only 9:30.  Ha! We've seen a few LSU fans not many yet though.  I have a feeling they will be busing them in today.  I'm almost just ready for it to be over I'm so nervous.  Anyway, I just wanted to share some photos of Ally all ready for the game.  Isn't she so cute in her "I Eat Tigers" shirt!

Gameday Preview

VS

This is the week.  Rival LSU will arrive in Tuscaloosa with their game faces on.  They'll bring all their obnoxious fans in their tacky outfits.  It will be a battle.  I'm nervous.  The Tigers hate the Tide with a passion they feel that we have "stolen" their coach (even though they've won a National Chamionship with Les Miles) and they are always out for revenge.   Last year it was an overtime win for the tide.  2007 was a late fumble by the Tide that set the tigers up for the game winning TD.  It's always a close game. I'm so excited, nervous, and  anxious.  As soon as I get of work I'm heading to Tuscaloosa.  I'm so excited I can't stand it!  I heard a stat that Alabama hasn't beaten the Tigers at home in 10 years.  10 years!!! Needless to say I'm ready!  The tailgate theme this week is Rajun Cajun.  We'll have gumbo, muffalattas, maybe jambalya.  I'm making Texas Caviar. (not really cajun but it'll work!).

Butterfly Bush

My daddy has always had a green thumb.  Me not so much.  In college he brought me a baby banana tree luckily my roommate took care of it.  He fixed us these really cute hanging pots for our front porch.  They were pretty for about a week.  Then they died.  I either water them to much or not enough.  Well when Patick and I got married dad thought we needed some trees in our yard (which we did).  He came and planted three beautiful trees and two butterfly bushes.  Well two of the three trees are no longer with us but the butterfly bushes are.  This week they have been COVERED with butterflys! They are so pretty!

Guess Who...

got to spend the night at Aunt Maggie & Uncle Hort's (that's what the kids call Patrick) house.  This sweet little angel did! She was so precious.  She was so good.  Sunday morning I was cooking and she played and played with all my mixing bowls.
