AveryAnn's First Thanksgiving & The rest of the weekend

I actually got my real camera out for Thanksgiving.  I've been so mad at myself for not taking more pictures of AveryAnn with my real camera.  (I'm even more upset that a lot of the pictures I've uploaded to my blog from my phone are no longer there.  Hopefully there's a solution for this.)
Anyway, I tried to get some pictures but I'm way out of practice.
For lunch we went to my Grandmother's house.  It was a beautiful day so after we ate, we sat outside and let the kids play.

AveryAnn just wanted to eat leaves.

But she was so cute while doing it.

Sweet Madelyn.

These two are starting to interact more and more and it is so sweet.  We don't get to spend nearly enough time together.

Barrett just wanted to jump in the leaves.

My Grandmother kept raking them up and Barrett jumped right in.  He had the best time.

We went to Patrick's parents house for dinner and had a nice time there too.  His mom always makes a feast and we all eat until we can't move and then it's time for dessert and we're really hurting by the time we leave.
Friday, was the release of Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life.  I was so excited for this but it was also the annual Maxwell Family kickball game.  So we headed to my brothers house to play kickball.  My team won one game and lost one.  After kickball we came home and I watched all 4 episodes of Gilmore Girls.  It was so nice to spend the evening in Stars Hollow.

Saturday, Patrick and I got up bright and early to go to the Iron Bowl.  We've never been to a college football game together and we were fortunate enough to get tickets so we went.  It was a fun day!
Sunday we went to church.  After church we came home and my sister came over and we watched Gilmore Girls again.  It was the perfect ending to the weekend.

Happy Thanksgiving!

Thankful.
2015 will probably be remembered as the best of times and the worst of times.
Even in the heartache we found things to be thankful for.
This thanksgiving I'm thankful for answered prayers and grace.
I'm thankful for my hardworking husband and my suddenly full of energy all boy toddler.
I'm thankful for our families that have cried with us and celebrated with us.
I'm thankful for a growing business that has been booming lately.
I'm thankful for the sweet group of mom friends that always let me know I'm not alone.
I'm thankful for the sweet daughter growing inside of me,
I'm thankful for Patrick's new job and all the family time we've gotten to catch up on since May.
I try to remember to be thankful everyday but it's nice to take a day to remind ourselves we are blessed beyond belief.

Thanksgiving, Kickball, Girl's Night and the Iron Bowl

I hate lumping the whole weekend in one post but I'm afraid i'll never get it all posted if I don't! :)
We had a crazy busy, exhaustingly fun long weekend.
Barrett spent a little time on the ipad before we got the day started.  He looks so big.
For Thanksgiving lunch we went to my Grandmother's house.  They boys worked on building a new deck.  Porter was prepared with his took box and safety glasses.

This is the only picture I took of Barrett all day.  After lunch we picked up Patrick and went to the Horton's for dinner.  As usual I took zero pictures.

On Friday my big brother planned a family kickball game.  It did not disappoint.  Mom and Dad were team captains.  Mom chose both of my brothers and my sister and my dad chose me.  Dad's team dominated the first game.
I haven't laughed that much in a long time.  It was so much fun!  My little brother set up his GoPro camera and we loved watching the footage.

During the second game I had a couple of memory lapses and made a fool of myself but I survived.

I just love that the whole family played (except my Patrick, he had to work.).  My parents played and ever Barrett toddled around the outfield and kicked the ball a few times.  It was so much fun.  I hope we get to do it again while everyone is around for Christmas.

Friday night Brittany and I hosted a little girls night paint party.  I invited all my "boy mom" friends.  All of our boys are right around the same age.  We painted doorhangers and I thought they turned out so cute.
We had a fun night laughing and painting.

Saturday was the Iron Bowl in Tuscaloosa.  I was so excited.  Jennifer and I planned on watching the game and my cousin's house but I ended up getting a ticket and we found Jennifer one too so we both got to go.  I loved the night games when i was in school.  Now that I have to travel to the games I don't enjoy them as much.  It makes for such a late night.
We ventured to the quad to see what was going on.
Meanwhile back home Patrick was trying to corrupt my son.  I can't get over how big he looks here.
Last week at Lowe's BB bought him this flashlight.  He's been using it as a headlight on this push toy.  He cracks me up.
Ms. Linda picked up this book and I love it.  It is so cute and so sweet

I got to sit with my sister.  The other girl was an Auburn fan we made friends with.  She reminded up so much of our sister-in-law Hope that we had to take her picture.

Then I went to find my other friends.  I'm pretty sure Matt wonders why he's friends with me.  I like to think it's because I'm fun, I think it's because he feels sorry for me.
It was a long night.  I was crawling in the bed as Patrick's alarm clock was going off.  I've never felt as old as I did Sunday.
Monday I finally got the ornaments on the tree and our halls are officially decked!
'Tis the season!

Thankful Hearts

Thanksgiving is my favorite holiday.
(Photo by: lb studios, this is one of my favorites)

I love these people fiercely.
I have so much to be thankful for this year.
Health.
Jobs.
Family.
Friends.
Food.
Shelter.
Transportation.
Freedom.
And The Lord, without him we'd have nothing.
There is so much hurt and heartache in the world.  It's hard to understand why some people go through the things they go through.  We just have to have Faith that His plan is the best plan.  I hope everyone can find something to be thankful for this year.  We are all blessed, we just have to take the time to realize it.
The Horton House wishes you and your family a very Happy Thanksgiving!

Thanksgiving & the Iron Bowl

We had a wonderful Thanksgiving.  It was Barrett's last "first" holiday.
For lunch Barrett and I headed to my Grandmother's and it was yummy. (Patrick had to work).

We left there and swung by the house to get Patrick and head to his parents house for dinner.  It was delicious also.  There was no room for our plates on the table because there was so much food.  Barrett ate his weight in green beans.
I love this little turkey so much.

The grandkids.  They are all so sweet to Barrett.
We started our Friday with a bundled up walk with Aunt Elizabeth.
Friday afternoon we met for Book Club and went to see Catching Fire.  It was sooo good.  I would have liked it better if I'd reread the book because I was trying to remember parts and it was taking away from the movie for me.  I want to reread the book then see it again.  I know I'm crazy.

Saturday we geared up for the biggest Iron Bowl of our lifetime.  #1 Alabama vs #4 Auburn.  Winner wins the SEC West and is one step closer to the National Championship.  Barrett, Ally and I got dressed in our tide gear and patiently waited for Patrick's mostly Auburn friends to arrive.  I was nervous all day and had a bad feeling.  I didn't want to admit it.  Auburn scored first and it was a little defeating.  Barrett started crying and it was hilarious.  I wanted to cry too.  It was back and forth and we had plenty of chances to win.  The game was tied when we thought the clock ran out.  Well after an official review the runner was out of bounds with 1 second on the clock and unless you've been living under a rock you know how it ended.  But since I want Barrett to read this one day I'll type it out.  We lost.  With 1 second left on the clock we go in with a field goal team.  It would be a 56 yard kick.  Well it was about 2 yards short, Auburn fielded it and ran it 108 yards for the game winning touchdown.  It was heart breaking.  Now Auburn will play for the SEC Championship this weekend.   Roll Tide.

All in all it was a great weekend.  I hated my team lost but it was bound to happen sometime.  At least its still the State of Alabama representing the SEC west.  Now we are in full Christmas mode.  We are enjoying our Advent Activity calendar that I made and our daily scripture readings at night.

It's the most wonderful time of the year!

Thankful

Happy Thanksgiving!

A few things I'm thankful for this year.
I'm thankful for that extra stocking hanging on the mantle.

I'm thankful that this sweet blur of a pup has adjusted so well to being a big sister.

I'm thankful for family.
I'm thankful for this sweet man that works so hard for our family so I can work part time and enjoy this time with our son.

I'm thankful for this sweet boy.  For his health and laid back personality.  I just love him so much.
I'm thankful for sweet friends.  I'm so blessed with friends that are always there when you need them.

I'm thankful for our warm home and full hearts.  We have been blessed and not a day goes by that I don't stop to thank God for blessing my family even if you struggle to see it some days.
I hope you all have a wonderful day full of food, family and fun!

Thanksgiving

Once upon a time the holiday known as Thanksgiving happened.  Yes it's been 3 weeks now since my favorite holiday passed but I still wanted to recap it.  It was a pretty low key day spent eating and resting.  I love Thanksgiving.  The food is definitely my favorite but I enjoy the doing nothing part too.  I always start the day watching the Macy's parade, then we headed to my grandmothers house for lunch!  It was all so good.  I can't even remember what all we had to eat but I do know there was both turkey and ham which makes this girl very happy!
My uncle had lined up a little project for the boys to help him with while we were all there.  A tree had fallen on my grandmother's garage so they worked on getting it all put back together.

This red truck was my Granddaddy's.  We always call it Granddaddy's truck (my grandfather died 14 years ago).  Porter asked my dad why his truck was at Grandmother's house.  My dad is the only "Grandaddy" he's known.  So we explained to him that it was his daddy's Granddaddy's (Porter's great Grandaddy) truck.  I think he caught on.  My dad and brother let him "drive" around the yard and afterwards he said that his dad's granddaddy would be proud to see him drive his truck.  Porter is named after my Grandaddy.  My brother and Grandaddy were very close so I know it meant a lot to my brother and dad too to see Porter so excited about driving his great Granddaddy's truck!

These are the only pictures we took that day.  We usually try to take a family picture but some of the kids were sick so they stayed home (thankfully!)  Hopefully we can get a family picture on Christmas.
After we left there Patrick and I ran home to get Ally and headed to the Horton's house.  Melissa made her usual spread and it was delicious.  I love holidays and traditions.  I can't wait to experience it with our sweet baby boy!

Happy Thanksgiving Y'all!

I am really blessed beyond words.  I have the most amazing, resilient family that I couldn't imagine not having in my life.  Do they make me crazy sometimes, yes, but I know without a shadow of a doubt they'll be there for me in a heartbeat.

Patrick is my better half.  He keeps me grounded.  He tells me when I'm being ridiculous and need to chill out.  He lets me cry when I get my feelings hurt and he can always say something to put life in perspective for me.  My mom and dad, I'm lucky enough to be able to say they are truly two of my best friends.  Patrick's parents are two angels in my life.  They are two of the most kind hearted people I've ever be around.  They are able to make impossible situations seem possible.  They always know the right thing to say to make you feel better.  My friends, where do I start, they have listened to more venting over the last 8 years then they probably care to think about.  Just being around them lifts my spirits.  I love that we can laugh at things and ourselves all the time.  Sometimes I wish we could still all live together, husbands, babies and all.  The two years I lived with them were some of the most laughter filled moments of my life.  I'm thankful that when we get together we can laugh till my face hurts (usually about whatever we started venting about).  I have learned a lot this year, a lot of tough lessons that I didn't really want to learn.  But I'm am thankful for them.

Life is good.  Petty things do not matter.  I can not control how other people feel and act I can only control my reaction to them.  People can only hurt me if I let them.  I'm trying to learn that.

Enough mushy stuff on to Turkey Day...
We had a wonderful day.  We started with lunch at my grandmother's house with my aunt and my uncle (his wife went to Indiana to visit her family, we missed her).  My grandmother decided against a traditional Thanksgiving meal and opted for vegetable soup and Mexican cornbread instead.  It was delicious (although I was a little disappointed because I'd been craving turkey and dressing all week).

Harper checking out the black Friday deals.
The boys (and Ally) out shooting.
Harper loves Ally.

For dinner we went to Patrick's mom and dad's and like usual they cooked enough food for 50 people, there are 13 of us, five of those are under the age of 10.  She had ham and turkey, dressing, scalloped potatoes, mac and cheese, broccoli casserole, squash, green beans, corn , peas, baby potatoes, roasted vegetables (carrots, sweet potatoes onion all together), sweet potato casserole, salad and rolls.  It was all so good.  Then for dessert she made a chocolate cheesecake, pecan pie, another pie (pumpkin I think), banana pudding and strawberry/cream cheese danish thing. It was all so delicious!  Needless to say we had to roll ourselves out of there.

I left there headed to my parents house to make a black Friday shopping plan.  Honestly there really weren't that many deals that we thought we just couldn't miss.  There were a few things that we were after.  Our first stop was going to be Wal-Mart until we drove by and there wasn't a parking place for blocks.  All we wanted was one wii game and we decided we didn't need it.  So we headed to Target to wait for them to open.  The line was ridiculous so we decided we'd just sit in the car until it opened.  Then they were only letting 30 people in every 3 or 4 minutes.  So we decided we'd have to go stand in line if we were ever going to get in.  We made it in around12:30 got the few things we were after and got in line.  This is where I started to turn into a pumpkin.  I get really grouchy when I'm up past my bedtime and it was way past my bedtime.  We stood in line about 20 minutes and made it out without hurting anyone.
I really didn't do as well as I have in the past.  I only got 6 gifts but that's a start so it was worth it.

Wow that was a long one, if you're still reading thanks for sticking it out!

Tomorrow is kind of a big day in Alabama, there's this little game called the Iron Bowl and we really need to win it!

Roll Tide!
